A few months into Liz and Brad’s time living on the farm, they battled brush and briars to find a defunct chicken-coop-turned-farm-stand out by the road. Upon entering, their minds simultaneously went to their massive collection of reclaimed wood, hardware, and other various building materials. The pair have a passion for repurposing materials that others may view as trash. They’ve actually gained quite reputation for themselves in this area that they now receive calls regularly from island homeowners and builders to come pick up these so called “treasures”. In April of 2021, with a couple of hammers and pry-bars, the couple began on their partial demolition. Things took shape quickly. Board by board their masterpiece came together. One may quiz either Brad or Liz on where each piece of wood came from, down to tiny pieces of trim, and they’ll surely tell you, probably with a great story on tow. The Farm Stand was completed in Summer of 2022, but will remain an evolving art installation for years to come.
